  Fundraising for a Cause

Presenter: Nancy Bocskor

Relationship fundraising is cost effective, the return is high, and the results can be immediate. But for it to work, you must understand why people give money. Just as different fish require different bait and equipment, different people need different approaches. The session will explain relationship fundraising, and how to help each donor move from concern to passion to cash.

Through this presentation, Nancy will teach session participants how to build a functioning fundraising operation, ask for money (even if you hate it), use storytelling to build personal relationships, build a powerful finance team and plan fundraising events that actually raise money. With over 30 years of fundraising experience, Nancy brings a seasoned perspective and great insight to teaching people across the world.

  Working Internationally

Presenter: Marilyn Yakowitz, GW '74, '80

Working internationally is enriching and broadening. Politics and policies, as well as changing economics and technologies, contribute to the complexities of working abroad. This interactive session will explore opportunities to work outside of the US, as well as the aspirations of participants, and suggest how to increase ones odds of exploiting these possibilities successfully. Living and working abroad is complicated by an array of US law and regulation, as well as rules and practices of all individual countries and regions. Understanding these and taking steps in advance of going abroad can help smooth ones easy integration into a new living and work milieu.
